Iowa FBC’s commitment to Guatemala came through the Lastrapes’, leading by God, to become missionaries and bring the IMPACT vision of the church to an international community.
Iowa’s partnership with the Lastrapes family came after members from Iowa FBC visited Guatemala on the church’s first ever international mission trip and realized the importance of having a contact person in Guatemala for future mission trips. After much prayer, Jerry and Sarah were convinced God was leading them to be that contact person as well as minister through the IMPACT vision in communities of Guatemala through non-formal education and pastor discipleship.
Jerry is looking forward to building relationships with local pastors and helping them in practical ways (budgets, discipleship, Bible study methods classes) so they can better serve their congregation. Sarah plans to work in a local orphanage and help organize women’s ministries in these churches.
We look forward to continuing to be a part of this ministry in Guatemala as well as how God will be using the Lastrapes now in their ministry. |
